First, we will review chapter 11, section 1.  
Read chapter 11, section 2 in the Medieval to Early Modern Times and answer questions in complete sentences.


Section 2, p. 304--311

  1. The way people in Europe searched for answers in their lives changed between the Middle Ages and the late 1300s.  Describe that change.
  2. How did ancient Greek texts end up in Italy in the 1300s?
  3. Do you think that Machiavelli gave good advice in the passage? Why or why not?
  4. Why did Dante write in Italian instead of Latin?
  5. How were Renaissance ideas about the value of human life are reflected in the art of the time?
  6. Name three ways that perspective changed art.
  7. Name one similarity and two differences between the Medieval and Renaissance paintings on page 307.
  8. Why are Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci considered “Renaissance” people?
  9. What were some of Michelangelo’s abilities?  What were some of Leonardo da Vinci’s abilities?
  10. Name one advancement in math during the Renaissance.
  11. Why did advancements in math lead to advancements in architecture?
  12. Name the most important change in thinking related to astronomy.
  13. How did education change in the Renaissance?
  14. How was Michelangelo an example of the ideal Renaissance person?
